정예린은 ‘종이’에 입체적 성질을 물리적으로 부여한다. 돌을 표현하던 물을 표현하던 물이면서 돌, 공기이면서 물을 정예린의 세계 속 종이는 알레고리로써 기능한다. ‘BLOOM’ 시리즈는, 종이에 열을 가해 기하학적으로 규정할 수 없는 우연적인 기포를 만들어낸다. ‘종이’ 라는 매체가 갖는 감각적 성질을 자족적으로 드러내어 평면성과 입체성, 바탕과 대상을 물리적 이미지로 표현함과 동시에 ‘기호적 종이’에 의해 관념적 종이는 해체된다.
